Quatre militants syriens viennent nous parler de la façon dont ils essaient de développer les pratiques démocratiques en SyrieAvec:
• Mohammad Ali Atassi est journaliste et réalisateur. En 2014, il a produit le documentaire « Our terrible country », racontant le voyage de Yassin Al Haj Saleh en Syrie. Il est le directeur exécutif de Bidayyat (soutenu par l’EDD), une organisation à but non lucratif qui soutient et produit des films documentaires.
• Yassin Al Haj Saleh est un écrivain syrien et ancien prisonnier politique (16 ans de prison). Après 21 mois de clandestinité, pour se cacher à la fois du gouvernement et des militants radicaux en Syrie, il a fui vers la Turquie.
• Raed Fares est une figure de proue du mouvement d’opposition laïque depuis son Kafranbel natal, près d’Idleb dans le nord de la Syrie. Il a créé le Kafranbel Media Center et Free Lawyers Association – attaqués par des militants en 2014 et 2015 – 2 organisations soutenus par l’EDD.
• Salma Kahale est la fondatrice et directrice exécutive de Dawlaty, créé en 2012 et soutenu par EED. Grâce à la mobilisation collective, la désobéissance civile et la défense non-violente, Dawlaty travaille avec les citoyens syriens à s’engager activement pour la réalisation de la transition démocratique en Syrie.

As the Syrian crisis has entered its 5th year, Syrian activists and civil society groups who struggle to foster democracy remain very active. Four Syrian activists will talk about how they are trying to develop democratic practices in Syria

Who?
• Mohammad Ali Atassi is a journalist and documentary filmmaker. In 2014, he produced the documentary “Our terrible country”, recounting Yassin Al Haj Saleh’s journey out of Syria. He is the Executive Director of EED-supported Bidayyat, a non profit organization that supports and produces documentary films.
• Yassin Al Haj Saleh is a Syrian writer and former (16 year) political prisoner. After 21 months of hiding from both the government and radical militants in Syria, he fled to Turkey.
• Raed Fares is a leading figure of the secular opposition movement in his native Kafranbel, near Idleb in northern Syria. He set up the Kafranbel Media Center and the town’s Free Lawyers Association – attacked by militants in 2014 and 2015 – and both supported by EED.
• Salma Kahale is the founder and Executive Director of Dawlaty, created in 2012 and supported by EED. Through community mobilisation, civil disobedience and non-violent advocacy, Dawlaty works with Syrian citizens to actively engage in achieving democratic transition in Syria.
